Jaipur(Rajasthan)
When you are struck by wanderlust, the world seems a tiny place. To quench the thirst of travelling to a popular place, I found myself booking tickets to Rajasthan. Imbibed with rich culture, heritage and the most prestigious architecture, Rajasthan promises to thrill, Intrigue and amuse. On a Four day trip to Rajasthan, my first halt was at the Pink City Jaipur and Jodhpur afterwards.

Jaipur offers the traveller the promise of exquisite hotels and lavish resorts wherein one can treat themselves to delicate and scrumptious cuisine. The local food to the contrary is just as tempting and you can savour some of the most notable foods such as Dal Baati Churma, Missi Roti, Bajre ki Roti, Gatte ki Sabzi, etc. The city is also known for its sweets which include Ghevar, Feeni, Mawa Kachori, Gajak, Meethi thali, Chauguni ke laddu, and Moong Thal.

Next time if you’re exhausted and need some calorie injection, you can devour some of the aforementioned street food and burp your way to your hotel for a peaceful nap.

“You just can’t get enough of this beautiful city”.

There are fortresses, museums, archaeological sites, palaces, and you can sight numerous Camels, Monkeys and majestic Elephants almost everywhere. You can hire a Camel of an Elephant if you like and it will cost you around less than 100 rupees for a short ride.

The elegance of Jaipur and Jodhpur will surely captivate you to the core. The forts and castles offer incredible bird-eye views with a gentle breeze and a solitary quiet. Standing atop these gigantic fortresses will instil the sense of tranquillity and the vast expanse in front of your eyes will make you want to stay for a while before you descend back.

I was delighted to view the entire city from such a height. The view was crisp and clear with everything resembling a speck against the magnificent vantage point from where I was standing. (leaning from the boundaries is not at all advised)

It dawned on me that these fortresses are not mere beauty and views but the sheer significance these structures might have had on wars and battles. These titanic structures were strategically placed to wage wars with an advantage, fortify against foreign threats, and defend without sustaining much damage but inflicting as much destruction as possible to the advancing foe or plotting a quick escape if the castle were to fall.

I’m not a military person, but oh, boy! what a view it might have been back in the days when wars were fought on foot with swords and arrows rather than the modern weapons of destruction. Devising battle plans and imagining the cannons wreak havoc on the advancing army, I descended back and took my way to the charming streets.

Other most notable sightings are the Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amer Fort, Monkey Temple, and the busiest place, the Pink market. Phew!

There are numerous places to be in Jaipur if your feet and budget allow.

If you cherish shopping, markets such as Aravali Bazaar, Johri Bazar, Chandpol Bazaar are a good place to pay a visit. These markets offer thousands of products including pottery, jewellery, Handicrafts, Art, Crockery, Handloom, you name it.

Places such as Chokhi Dhani, Jal Mahal, Step Wells and City Palace offer the travellers a unique and indelible experience. I would narrow down on Chokhi Dhani located at Tonk Road because this place houses picturesque resorts, amusement parks, hotels, heritage and culture packed into one big village. Spread over 10 acres of land, Chokhi Dhani gives you an overview of the Rajasthani culture at just one place. Eating delicacies such as daal baati choorma and Maalpua are enough to seduce your taste buds, besides that Chokhi Dhani offers plush ambience, more drooling meals, folk surroundings all of which are an intriguing ecstasy.

I can’t help but keep writing about this amazing journey, but I would like you to read my other blog as well that complements Jaipur in different ways. Hit the link for the next blog which depicts my trip to Jodhpur that is just as charming and infused with the same attributes.
