1.Sandesh

I guess everyone has heard about West Bengal’s this renowned sweet dish called Sandesh. This sweet dish is prepared with paneer, sugar, and milk and topped with saffron strands, almonds, and pistachios. Its crunchiness comes from nuts and the saffron strands give it a distinctive taste that just melts into your mouth. If you haven’t tried Sandesh, then you must try it especially on the occasion of Durga Puja.

2. Alur Torkari & Luchi

The most famous breakfast in Bengal is Alur Torkari. People usually start their day by enjoying this as their first meal of the day. It is served with piping hot luchis that look similar to puris but they are made with maida (flour) and are deep-fried. The spiciness of Alur Torkari is balanced with luchis. Lucihis are most tasty when served with spicy dry veggies and rich gravies. Maha Saptami is the perfect time to enjoy this dish.

3.Aloo Potol Posto

4.Ilish Macher Jhol

5.Mishti Doi

This is another Bengals renowned sweet dish and every festival is incomplete without this delightful sweet curd. Many brands sell mishti doi but the authentic mishti doi can only be found in Bengal.

6.Shukto

Shukto, normally served as the first course of the day, is an authentic Bengali dish. With its sweet potatoes, crunchy drumsticks, bitter gourd, soft brinjals, and red chilies, this is a delicious, healthy dish. Spices and milk are used to prepare the pasty gravy, giving it a thick texture.

7.Tangra Macher Jhol

Bengalis are big fans of this spicy Catfish curry. The gravy is thick and full of flavors since it is made with freshly ground spices. Curry is made spicy with the addition of red chilies. This dish is supposed to be served with steamed rice which leaves a great sense of satiation when consumed.

8.Begun Bhaja

10.Cholar Dal
