When travelling to other countries, flying is the most convenient and preferred mode of transportation. However, this is not a viable option in certain regions of the world. Here are 6 countries without airports and the best ways to reach them.

1.) Vatican City

In the heart of Rome, Vatican City is the smallest country in the world. It is an absolute sovereign with the Pope at its head. The museum, exotic gardens, and the Sistine Chapel are all popular attractions of this Roman Catholic enclave, which is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. There is no airport in this country, but it is conveniently reached from the capital of Italy. Since it is not possible to drive into the city, public transportation is the only option. Several Rome metro stations, bus stops, and train stations are located close to Vatican City, making it possible for visitors to walk there.

The country is home to UNESCO world heritage sites including Mount Titano, the highest point in San Marino; and it also features old-world architecture and cobblestone paths. If you’re taking public transportation to San Marino, Rimini is your usual entry point. From Rimini, tourists can take a bus heading toward the capital city. San Marino can also be reached by car.

Although the castle is not open to the public, a breathtaking view of jagged mountains can be seen from the hillside. There are three different ways to get to St. Gallen-Altenrhein: by air through the St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport in Switzerland, by train via the Swiss border stations at Buchs and Sargans, or by driving.

5.) Andorra

Andorra is a small country located in a valley among the Pyrenees mountains, in western Europe. It shares a border with France and Spain and is known for its ski resorts and scenic mountain views. 6.) Palestinian Territories

In spite of its war-ravaged past, this land is still a popular tourist destination, owing to its ancient cities and beautiful architecture.
