The world is full of amazing experiences and the wanderlust in me wants to gather it all. So, I note it down on my Bucket List and keep it safe in my mind. I’m happy that a lot of those plans have been ticked-off from the list but I’m also excited that a lot more is left. And while I am at it, sharing my upcoming journeys with you makes it all the more fun. Which is why I decided to set aside this section exclusively for revealing My Future Plans. Check out some of my ‘dream destinations’ and the best experiences they offer. Also, let me know if any of these are there on your bucket list too.
Maldives
Someday soon I will be exploring the incredible South Asian island country, the Maldives. I see myself walking barefoot on the soft white sand of its pristine beaches, inhaling the fresh sea breeze. My bucket list has everything that the Maldives is celebrated for. One cannot afford to miss the experience of snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters and diving through its rich coral reefs. Feel your adrenaline levels take off as you indulge in the water adventures like kite surfing, jet skiing, kayaking, and flyboarding. Unwind amidst the azure waters with a stay in one of its exotic ocean villas.
Andaman & Nicobar
Islands are calling and I can’t wait to answer. Andaman & Nicobar Islands top my travel bucket list of beach destinations. Its dense tropical rainforests are home to several rare animal species and surrounding waters are rich in marine life. If you love adventure, do not miss glass-bottom boating, scuba diving, parasailing, and underwater sea walking. Palm-fringed beaches, mangroves and mountains dominate the spellbinding landscape. And its colonial past makes this Indian archipelago an attraction for history buffs around the globe. One of the major historical landmarks is the Cellular Jail (Kala Pani). Another intriguing place to visit is the Baratang Limestone Cave.
Kerala
How can I not have ‘God’s own country’ in my wish list? Kerala, the beautiful south Indian state is a hotspot for nature lovers. With lush greenery, serene backwaters, charming beaches and mesmerising high range regions, its landscape is diverse yet in harmony. Interesting stay options like houseboats in Alleppey and tree-houses in Munnar make your holiday a true “staycation”. I am looking forward to treating my tastebuds with authentic Malayali food, local snacks and sweet dishes. And as someone who appreciates art, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Kalaripayattu performances are totally unmissable. Being the land of coconut and spices you know what your souvenirs are going to be.
Northern Lights
As a traveller, I seek magic – the magic of nature. And one such magnificent sight is the Northern Lights that streak the night sky around the Arctic Circle. Appearing as streams of red and green light, this phenomenon is a result of the interaction between the solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field. Some of the best places to spot the Northern Lights include Alaska, Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Canada. Gazing at the spectacularly painted sky above makes you feel like a part of Van Gogh’s surreal Starry Night painting. Then there are resorts that further enhance this experience by offering rooms with glass-roof ceilings.
