There are many scenic landscapes in India. North India is one of them as it is home to lush green forests, sparkling lakes and rivers, as well as beautiful valleys with sparkling water running downhill. A valley is a low lying area between hills, and there are many magical valleys in North India. There is no doubt that the valleys in India are incredibly beautiful and delightful to behold in every way. Here are some of the most beautiful, mysterious, and overlooked valleys found in the northern and northeastern parts of India.

1.) Yumthang Valley
North Sikkim District, Sikkim
The Yumthang valley in the North Sikkim district is a beautiful, picturesque valley surrounded by mountains. The valley is often referred to as the ‘Valley of Flowers’. A visit to this valley will leave you spellbound and tourists flock there all year, except during December to March. Yumthang is home to more than 24 species of rhododendrons and is flourished by a tributary of the Teesta River. It is impossible to resist the allure of the grazing yaks amidst thousands of flowering Himalayan plants and an astounding collection of rhododendrons during the summer.

Activities to do: Make sure to visit Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, where the rhododendrons bloom from late February to mid-June, which is also the time of the International Rhododendron Festival. On your way to Yumthang Valley, you will pass Yumthang Hot Spring, where the water is considered to have medicinal properties because of its high sulphur content. 2.) Dzukou Valley
Kohima District, Nagaland and Senapati District, Manipur
This beautiful valley is located right across the border between Nagaland and Manipur. Dzukou Valley is famous for a unique species of lily flower, the Dzukou Lily that grows nowhere else in the world. Along with the Dzukou Lily, several different kinds of wildflowers adorn the undulating grasslands every season.

Activities to do: Dzukou Valley can be reached by hiking through Manipur from Mount Isu in Senapati District. Birdwatchers should not miss the Pulie Badze Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled right in between the crisscross of Japfy and Dzulekie mountain streams.

3.) Dibang Valley
Upper and Lower Dibang Districts, Arunachal Pradesh
This valley has been carved out by the river Dibang. It is one of the most beautiful valleys in India, surrounded by exotic flora, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking natural beauty. This is a majestically beautiful gorge located between Tawang and Bomdila. The Lidder River flows through the entire valley that has been mentioned in Hindu Mythology for having religious significance, as the East Lidder originates from the holy Sheshnag Lake.

Activities to do: Those looking to explore the valleys and their diverse terrain should not miss the moderately challenging trek to Kolahoi Glacier. You can hike to Aru Village if you do not wish to go as far as Kolhoi. 6.) Warwan Valley
Kishtwar District, Kashmir
In north India, Warwan valley is a hidden treasure. The valley is enveloped by the exuberant forests of Kashmir Valley on one side and the cold desert of Ladakh on the other. The best time to trek the Warwan Valley is from July to September when the weather is pleasant. Winters in Jammu and Kashmir are cold and unforgiving, which makes the trek more challenging. In the summer, the roadside fields are covered with crops of barley and green peas, presenting a dramatic contrast against the barren, rocky mountains. 8.) Darma Valley
Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand
One of the finest valleys in Uttarakhand is Dharma Valley, which is situated between Kuth Yangti valley and Lassar Yangti valley. The high altitude Himalayan valley in Pithoragarh which can only be reached on foot and falls through the breathtaking trek to the Panchachuli camp makes for a wonderful experience. In the vicinity of the Indo-Tibet border, you can witness a lovely glimpse of the Kailash peak. 9.) Pindar Valley

10.) Mana Valley
Chamoli District, Uttarakhand
Mana Valley is venerated as a sacred place in Hindu mythology since Maharishi Vyas recited the epic of Mahabharata to Ganesha here. It is located at a height of 5,545 meters in the village of Mana, 3 km from the well known Badrinath Shrine. It is the highest motorable road in the world and one of the most picturesque valleys in Uttarakhand. Furthermore, it also holds the basis to the extensive tributary of the Ganges. The place served as a trade route between Uttarakhand and Tibet. The Mana Village is considered the last village in the country.

Activities to do: You can challenge yourself on various high-altitude treks near Mana Village. Enjoy the steaming hot tea in the last shop of the last village in India. This is something that you will take back as an indelible experience from Mana. Moreover, you should also visit the two caves found at Mana – Vyas Gufa and Ganesha Gufa. Other natural attractions are the Vasudhara Falls, Satopanth Lake and Bhim Pul.
